    Etymological Evidence:

Definite, Anglo-French/Old Northern French wardecors(e), wardecorps etc. consisting of warde 'guard' + cor(p)se 'body, so literally 'guard for the body', and the word is also found in the same sense as English 'bodyguard' and other non-clothing meanings. Anglo-French forms with g- show the standard Old French habit (also extant in some Anglo-Norman dialect) of changing inherited Germanic w- to g(u)- (e.g. the Norman name Willalme versus. OF Guillaume).
WF:
Etym Cog: warde-cors (ME), wardecorps (MdE).
