Definite, noun derived from the root of swapan (see beswape) 'envelop, wrap' + nominal instrumen suffix -el(s). Compare the later English word swipple (q.v.), which is formed in a similar fashion but has very different meaning; it is possible that swipple is the continuation of this word.
